Court Findings:

The Federal Magistrates Court in Brisbane found that BLF (Qld) Organiser Kane Pearson contravened s.767 (1) of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 (WR Act) by intentionally hindering work and obstructing and acting improperly while attempting to exercise rights as a permit holder at the River Point Apartment site at West End in Queensland.

On Friday 5 June 2009 BLF organiser Kane Pearson entered the site and disrupted a concrete pour on the project. Queensland Police attended the site after Mr Pearson allegedly used his vehicle to block access to the concrete pump station.

Court Outcome:

FM Jarrett made imposed a penalty of$16,500 on the BLF and a penalty of $4500 on Mr Pearson.
