Wages and entitlements
This section provides information about your workplace rights and obligations in relation to wages and entitlements.
An employee's minimum pay rate can come from an award, enterprise agreement or other registered agreement or the national minimum wage.
Employees can take leave for many reasons, including to go on a holiday, because they are sick or to take care of sick family members.
Employment can end for many different reasons. An employee may resign or can be dismissed (fired). However it ends, it’s important to follow the rules about dismissal, notice and final pay.
There are rules about what employees get at work, such as what hours they work and how often they have to have a break. These rules can be set out in different places such as an award, registered agreement or an employment contract.
Minimum conditions at work can come from registered agreements, awards or legislation.
