ABCC Deputy Commissioners

Following their appointment by the Minister for Employment in July 2017, three Deputy Commissioners have now commenced their roles at the ABCC. Anthony Southall QC, Cathy Cato and Cliff Pettit each have extensive knowledge of the industry, the agency and possess senior executive management and leadership experience.

The Full Federal Court today handed down penalties totalling $430,000 for unlawful industrial action taken at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital and two other Brisbane construction sites.

CFMEU penalised $130,000 for industrial action at six Brisbane projects

The CFMEU and three of its officials have been penalised $130,000 for industrial action which shut down work at multiple construction projects across Brisbane, including Ronald McDonald House and the Commonwealth Games Velodrome site.

Full Court confirms: Union officials must have valid federal right of entry permit when entering under state or territory OHS laws

The Full Court of the Federal Court has today confirmed that union officials require a valid federal right of entry permit to enter a site under a State or Territory occupational health and safety law, including where a health and safety representative (HSR) invites the official on to site under an OHS law.
