On Friday 14 December 2018, Minister for Jobs and Industrial Relations, the Hon Kelly O’Dwyer MP announced the appointment of two new Deputy Commissioners to fill vacant roles within the ABCC.
Ms Jill Jepson has taken on the role of Deputy Commissioner Corporate/Code and Mr Matt Kelleher will take up an appointment as Deputy Commissioner Legal.
Jill has been Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer and the leader of the Corporate Services Group at the ABCC since March 2017.
Jill has a wealth of senior experience in the private and public sectors, including seven years in chartered accounting followed by senior finance and COO roles in a variety of organisations.
Jilll has also worked at the Commonwealth Ombudsman, as a branch manager with the Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations and COO at the Department of Health.
Matt Kelleher was most recently special counsel with Clayton Utz. Matt is an experienced litigator and has acted on behalf of the ABCC in a number of significant matters, including Federal Court proceedings and Full Court appeals in Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Matt has conducted litigation for the Fair Work Ombudsman, Registered Organisations Commission and other Commonwealth agencies and has acted for many of Australia’s largest building and construction companies.
Matt has undertaken pro bono work for clients and has volunteered for a number of years at the Employment Law Centre of Western Australia.
Matt is a committee member of the Australian Labour Lawyers Association and has been a legal representative on the Chamber of Minerals and Energy People Strategies Committee. He has also been a sessional lecturer in Australian Industrial Relations at Curtin University.
Jill commenced on 17 December 2018 and Matt will take up his position on 7 January 2019, each for a five year term.
