Welcome to the May-June 2017 edition of the ABCC’s Industry Update, covering the activities of the Australian Building and Construction Commission during the last two months.

In this edition, we include the latest advice from our Building Code Group, particularly for those organisations seeking to ensure their enterprise agreements are Code compliant. Our staff are working closely with the building industry to help them with this important process. There are now over 1,600 agreement clauses in our guidance material which have been published on our website to help streamline the assessment process.

This month’s summary of legal case outcomes sets out three significant decisions, including penalties of nearly $300,000 against the CFMEU and a number of high profile union figures after a series of unlawful blockades of a major hospital construction site.

I outline some of the key points made to the latest Senate Estimates questioning of the ABCC, including details of important compliance work being carried out by the agency.

As always, if you are seeking information or advice we encourage you to visit our website, contact us via 1800 003 338 or by email at
