October 2012 Industry Update

The new FWBC Industry Update is here

Welcome to the first Industry Update from your new workplace regulator for the building and construction industry.

In this electronic newsletter you can expect to read about Fair Work Building & Construction’s (FWBC) latest initiatives, resources and campaigns, educative messages and issues of importance to the industry.

“Since we commenced operations on 1 June 2012, we have been actively out and about on construction sites since day one,” said FWBC Chief Executive, Leigh Johns.

“FWBC will continue to investigate and prosecute alleged breaches of workplace laws.

“In addition, we are expanding our role to put a stronger focus on the recovery of wages and entitlements and creating educative tools and resources to help everyone in the industry to understand their rights and obligations.”

FWBC is working to bring the most relevant and interesting content to you through this Industry Update.

In this edition, we look at the unlawful use of side deals, new FWBC online educative resources and the latest FWBC court cases and outcomes.

We value your feedback as it helps us make Industry Update more suitable for you. Let us know what you think via publicaffairs [at] fwbc.gov.au (email).

Please feel free to forward this newsletter to your members and colleagues or re-publish any of the Industry Update stories on your website or in your e-newsletter.
