June 2013 Industry Update

The Building Code - what does it mean for you?

The FWBC website has been updated with information that contractors and subcontractors need to know about the new Building Code 2013 (Building Code).

The Building Code sets out the Australian Government’s expected standards for all building contractors or building industry participants involved in Commonwealth funded construction projects.

FWBC’s Building Code section of the FWBC website contains information on:

We have also set up a new Building Code email mailbox for contractors and subcontractors to direct any enquiries or questions they may have about the Building Code - codeenquiries [at] fwbc.gov.au.

A key part of FWBC’s role is promoting the Building Code and providing information and advice to industry about compliance matters. FWBC will continue to promote and monitor compliance with the Building Code, and to inquire into and investigate any act or practice that is contrary to the Building Code.

Failure to comply with the Building Code may result in a contractor or participant being precluded from Commonwealth funded building work.
