It is almost 12 months since the introduction of the 2016 Code and significant progress has been made to encourage the development of safe, healthy, fair, lawful and productive building sites.
Since the commencement of the 2016 Code on 2 December 2016, the ABCC has:
assessed 2,637 enterprise agreements and individual clauses for compliance;
published guidance material with advice on more than 1600 examples of compliant and non-compliant clauses;
responded to nearly 5,000 enquiries from stakeholders about the Code; and
commenced 282 audits and inspections.
We have also made substantial efforts to ensure contractors understand their responsibilities.
The ABCC will continue to drive improvements in the building industry by ensuring contractors comply with the Building Codes through education and a robust and consistent regulatory program.
