FWBC 2014-15 Annual Report Now Available

The FWBC 2014-15 Annual Report was tabled in Parliament on 15 October 2015 and is available to download or view online.

Key FWBC highlights from the 2014/15 financial year include:

  • a 250% increase in compulsory examinations

  • a 44% increase in new legal proceedings

  • establishment of the Building Code Group

  • the first Building Code 2013 audits – 50% of contractors found not compliant

  • triple the number of Fair Work Commission submissions to have union officials’ right of entry permits suspended or revoked

  • FWBC received more than 3,000 enquiries - hundreds more than the previous year.

FWBC Director Nigel Hadgkiss said in the Foreword to the report that “the 2014-15 financial year has been marked by alarming rates of lawlessness in the building and construction industry".

Mr Hadgkiss stated that the $1.39 million in court fines handed down in 2014/15 demonstrated that the agency is winning its battles but still faced substantial challenges to win the war against unlawfulness in the industry.
