The industrial relations consultation process is currently paused due to disruptions caused by COVID-19. The process will recommence in due course.

The Australian Government has today (Tuesday 18 February) released the Code Discussion Paper for the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Works 2016.

The Attorney-General’s Department is inviting written submissions on the Code’s operation and potential areas where it could be strengthened to ensure it remains fit for purpose.  The review is also focused on ensuring Australia’s industrial relations system achieves the best overall balance, having regard to the needs of employees and employers, including those engaged in small business.

Submissions should be made directly to the Attorney-General’s Department via email to IRconsultation@ag.gov.au. The discussion paper sets out 23 questions. While the discussion paper directs submissions to specific questions, submissions may provide any information and make suggestions relevant to the matters set out in the discussion paper.

The closing date for submissions is 3 April 2020.
