Building industry participant
Building industry participant means any of the following:
- a building employer
- a building employee
- a building contractor
- a person who enters into a contract with a building contractor under which the building contractor agrees to carry out building work or to arrange for building work to be carried out
- a building association
- an officer, delegate or other representative of a building association.
The CFMEU and 19 of its officials have been penalised $817,500 after they shut down two major Brisbane sites in a “deliberate, flagrant and systematic” campaign aimed at forcing the sites’ head contractor to sign a CFMEU enterprise agreement.

The Federal Circuit Court in Sydney has imposed penalties totaling $13,500 against the CFMMEU and its then organiser Luke Collier after he refused to follow OHS procedures while on the $163 million Barangaroo Headland Park site on 5 March 2014.

The Federal Court has penalised the CFMMEU and three of its officials $292,200 for attempting to shut down construction at the Palmerston Police Station site in May 2018.
