Building contractor

A building contractor is a person who has entered into, or who has offered to enter into, a contract for services under which the person either:

  • carries out building work
  • arranges for building work to be carried out.

Independent contractors run their own business. They usually negotiate their own fees and working arrangements and can work for more than one client at a time. Independent contractors are called contractors or subcontractors.
