On Tuesday 27 March 2018, the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU), Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), and Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia (TCFUA) amalgamated. The new organisation is called the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMMEU).

The ABCC has filed proceedings in the Federal Court alleging the CFMMEU and two of its officials committed 46 contraventions when they disrupted night construction work and ignored Victoria Police and WorkSafe instructions at the $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel Project in December 2019.

The Australian Building and Construction Commission has filed legal proceedings in the Federal Court alleging a CFMMEU delegate delayed work from starting on Melbourne’s Metro Rail Tunnel project claiming a first aid bed was too high.

The ABCC has commenced proceedings against the CFMMEU and three of its officials alleging they organised unlawful industrial action, contravened right of entry laws and threatened to shut down the Melbourne University Veterinary School project site in Werribee.

The ABCC has filed Federal Court proceedings against the CFMMEU and nine of its officials over several alleged contraventions that occurred on the redevelopment site of Terminal 1 at Adelaide Airport in 2019.

The ABCC has commenced legal proceedings against the CFMMEU and one of its Queensland officials, Roland Cummins, after he allegedly called a Queensland Work Health and Safety officer a “f****ing dog” during a disagreement at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre.

The ABCC has commenced proceedings against the CEPU, the State Secretary of its Plumbing Division Gary O’Halloran and its official Andrew Blakely alleging that they organised unlawful industrial action, contravened right of entry laws and coerced a contractor at a site in Brisbane.

The Federal Court has today handed down penalties totaling $193,000 against the CFMMEU and one of its organisers Anthony Sloane after Mr Sloane stopped work on a Sydney construction site in February 2018 over a one-hour pay claim.
