The ABCC has filed proceedings in the Federal Court alleging the CFMMEU and two of its officials committed 46 contraventions when they disrupted night construction work and ignored Victoria Police and WorkSafe instructions at the $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel Project in December 2019.

The Australian Building and Construction Commission has filed legal proceedings in the Federal Court alleging a CFMMEU delegate delayed work from starting on Melbourne’s Metro Rail Tunnel project claiming a first aid bed was too high.

The Federal Court has today handed down penalties totaling $193,000 against the CFMMEU and one of its organisers Anthony Sloane after Mr Sloane stopped work on a Sydney construction site in February 2018 over a one-hour pay claim.

The ABCC has commenced Federal Court proceedings against the CFMMEU and its official Grant Harradine, alleging they organised unlawful industrial action on four consecutive days in a bid to pressure subcontractor, PJ Walsh, to sign a CFMMEU enterprise agreement at the Townsville Stadium site.

The Federal Court has imposed a maximum penalty against the CFMEU after it repeatedly stopped work on a $126 million Commonwealth Games project on the Gold Coast. In a penalty decision, Justice Reeves said the cost impact of the ongoing disruptions at the Carrara Sports and Recreation project had been estimated at over $700,000.
