A ‘funding recipient’ refers to any entity to which the Commonwealth provides funding or assistance for building work that’s covered by the Code.

Generally, a funding recipient is a state or territory government.

Funding recipients may be contractually obligated through their funding agreement with the Commonwealth to ensure that several aspects of the Code are applied when procuring Commonwealth funded building work.

Key responsibilities may include requiring EOI/tender respondents to provide certain information, and ensuring that:

  • EOIs/tenders are conducted in a manner consistent with the Code
  • contractors are not subject to an exclusion sanction
  • a WRMP is provided by contractors and approved by the ABCC (for certain projects).
