Fair Work Building & Construction (FWBC) is committed to ensuring cooperative, productive and harmonious workplace relations in the building and construction industry. Established by the Fair Work (Building Industry) Act 2012 (FWBI Act), FWBC works within a framework that includes the Fair Work Act 2009 (FW Act) and the Building Code 2013 (Building Code).
FWBC has a mandate to investigate and litigate civil penalty breaches of industrial laws, particularly the FW Act. FWBC’s focus is primarily on four key areas of concern:
unlawful industrial action
freedom of association
right of entry
FWBC is committed to increasing productivity in the building and construction industry and improving the way it responds to the needs of building industry participants. The education, advice and compliance services offered by FWBC are targeted to ensure the industry is better equipped to comply with workplace laws and supports the growth of the building and construction industry in Australia.
