In November 2012, FWBC launched a new website. The new website enhances our capacity to deliver content and information to building and construction industry participants.

Purposes of the website and redevelopment

FWBC’s website provides building industry participants access to educational materials and allows interested members of the community to monitor its activities.

The new website seeks to improve information architecture and navigation. FWBC wanted to improve the usability and accessibility of information to improve the user experience, provide opportunities for users to self-help through interactive online applications, build the agency’s reputation as an industry regulator and educator and establish an online profile that is consistent with the agency’s responsibilities and community expectations.


The website redevelopment was designed following extensive feedback and testing from industry participants to ensure our stakeholders could locate information as quickly and intuitively as possible and that the new layout was user-friendly.


A new clean display and simplified language has made more relevant and accessible. The site contains a wide range of educational material that will assist building industry participants to understand their workplace rights and responsibilities. It also contains easier search features and is designed to work on portable devices such as tablets and smartphones.

The re-design also allowed us to incorporate a new language assistance area for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) audiences. These pages feature a range of in-language resources such as brochures, case studies, employment checklists and a video.


The overhaul of the website has proved to be worthwhile, with traffic to the site increasing by 160 per cent following the launch of the FWBC site.
