During 2012-13, eight new consultancy services contracts were entered into by FWBC involving total actual expenditure of $193,646 (including GST).
In addition, seven ongoing consultancy services were active during 2012-13 involving total actual expenditure of $355,513 (including GST).
FWBC engages consultants where it lacks specialist expertise or when independent research, review or assessment is required. Consultants are typically engaged to investigate or diagnose a defined issue or problem; carry out defined reviews or evaluations; or provide independent advice, information or creative solutions to assist in FWBC’s decision making.
Prior to engaging consultants, FWBC takes into account the skills and resources required for the task, the skills available internally, and the cost- effectiveness of engaging external expertise. The decision to engage a consultant is made in accordance with the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 and related regulations including the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and relevant internal policies.
FWBC does not administer any grant programs, and no grants were made during 2012-13.
Contracts greater than $100,000
No contract of $100,000 or more (inclusive of GST) was let during the 2012-13 financial year by FWBC that did not provide for the Auditor-General to have access to FWBC’s premises.
No contract in excess of $10,000 (including GST) or a standing offer has been exempted by the Chief Executive of FWBC from being published in
AusTender during the 2012-13 financial year on the basis that it would disclose exempt matters under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
