During the reporting period, the ABCC provided assistance and advice to building industry participants regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Building and Construction Industry Improvement Act 2005 (BCII Act), the Fair Work Act 2009 (FW Act), the Independent Contractors Act 2006 (IC Act) and the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry (National Code).

The ABCC assisted industry participants to bring about voluntary compliance and enforced these laws through civil litigation when necessary.

In addition to its regular compliance activities, in 2011-12 the ABCC:

  • uconducted a concreting and finishing trades audit, and
  • continued its inquiry into sham contracting.

The following data represents 11 months of activity. On 31 May 2012 the ABCC was abolished.
