Information Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information Act 1982 establishes the Information Publication Scheme (IPS) that requires Australian Government agencies to publish a broad range of information on their websites. Information available below is organised in topics as described in the Act.
ABCC Agency Plan
The Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) Agency Plan describes how the ABCC proposes to implement and administer the IPS.
The ABCC has also published a Web Accessibility Action Plan (Word - 161 K) | PDF - 220 K) . This Web Accessibility Action Plan states the ABCC's effort to meet requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and to be in line with the Australian Government’s Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy.
The ABCC as an Agency
The ABCC is a Commonwealth agency that operates under a regional structure. There are four regions: Northern (QLD), Eastern (NSW/ACT), Southern (VIC/TAS) and Western (WA/SA/NT). Each region comprises a multi-disciplinary team of investigators from varied backgrounds including law enforcement and industrial relations, and lawyers who manage the ABCC’s legal proceedings. The regions are supported by four groups that operate nationally: the Office of the Director, Corporate, the Building Code Group, and the Office of the General Counsel.
The ABCC aims to provide an improved workplace relations framework to ensure that building work is carried out fairly, efficiently and productively by ensuring compliance with designated building laws and the Building Code. For further information regarding responsibilities of the ABCC in promoting fair workplaces and compliance in the industry, read our role as well as the ABCC Service Charter.
The ABCC has published information throughout this website about its function and powers and to explain the rights and responsibilities of building industry participants. Key information can be found via the links below:
