The ABCC provides a productive and supportive workplace, modelling shared behaviours and offering equal opportunities for all employees. As an Australian Public Service employer the ABCC follows the Public Service Act 1999, which reflects government and community expectations on being fair and inclusive.
The ABCC recognises the value of individual differences and is committed to managing diversity in the workplace. Examples of the ABCC’s support for diversity include:
- introducing a Supported Travel policy that subsidises the costs of taxi fares for staff who require disabled taxi services to travel to and from work
supporting Indigenous staff to pursue Executive Leadership Dimensions Indigenous Scholarships, a program to increase opportunities for Indigenous APS staff
establishing the ABCC Women's network and encouraging female staff to attend AIM Women's breakfasts and the Executive Women's Leadership Symposium, of which the ABCC is an Employer of Choice
participating in the annual NAIDOC week celebrations
- ensuring recruitment panels apply the ABCC's Workplace Diversity Guidelines.
