Which version of the Guidelines applies to your project?
There are several versions of the Australian Government Guidelines for the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry (Guidelines) available. The version that applies to your project will depend upon the type of project it is and the date the project was released for tender.
The specific Guidelines that apply should be described in your ‘Request for Tender’ documents. If not, you should contact your head contractor or responsible government agency.
The current version of the Guidelines applies to projects commencing on or after 1 August 2009. Projects that commenced prior to this date will be subject to an earlier version of the Guidelines.
How do I know which version of the Guidelines apply?
The version of the Guidelines that applies at the commencement of the project will continue to apply for the life of the project. Which version applies to a construction project depends on the date the expressions of interest or tenders were first called for.
If you are working on a National Code project that had an expression of interest or tender advertised prior to 1 November 2005 then contact the ABCC for assistance on what version of the Guidelines will apply.
All versions of the Guidelines are available from the ABCC website on the Publications and other resources page.
