National , Alert

Release date: 28 November 2007

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) has released new model clause documents to assist in achieving compliance with the National Code of Practice for the Building and Construction Industry (the Code) and associated Implementation Guidelines.

The new publications, ‘Model Tender and Contract Documentation for Contractors’ and ‘Model Tender and Contract Documentation for Australian Government Departments, Agencies and CAC Act bodies’ replace the ‘Directly Funded Projects’ and ‘Indirectly Funded Projects’ model clause documents.

The model clauses are to be included in expressions of interest, funding, tendering and contract documentation on any building and construction project that has Australian Government funding.

Copies of the new model clause documents are available on the
ABCC and DEEWR websites.

What are the Code and Guidelines?

The Code establishes minimum standards businesses must meet to be eligible for Australian Government building and construction work.

The Australian Government Implementation Guidelines for the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry (the Guidelines)
are designed to assist Government and industry to interpret and implement the Code.
