National Code Assessment - Online Registration

National , Alert

Release date: 28 August 2007

On 1 September 2007 the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations will go live with online registration to assess your industrial instruments for National Code compliance.Industrial instruments are assessed against the Australian Government Implementation Guidelines for the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry (the Code and Guidelines).

The online registration process will enable the Department to provide an improved service to all building industry participants. Turnaround times will be improved. The new process is a further commitment to help building industry participants be eligible to tender for Australian Government funded construction work.

While the online registration process is designed to receive requests for assessments electronically, if you do not have your industrial instruments in electronic format you will be able to download a registration form and fax or mail it to the Department for assessment. The standard turnaround time for manual registration at present is 28 days.

The online registration process is expected to offer turnaround times of  approximately 14 days.

The Department will offer a helpline service for building industry participants who require assistance in completing the online registration process. There are also help tools embedded at every stage of the online registration process.
