Release date: 21 September 2011

Calculating construction pay rates and allowances made simple with FWO’s PayCheck Plus.

Pay rate and allowance calculator PayCheck Plus is now accessible online for building and construction industry participants.

Employees can logon and answer a series of simple questions about their employment to determine their correct base hourly rate and other entitlements.

The tool also allows employers to check their payroll details for adult, junior and apprentice workers under modern awards including the Building and Construction General On-Site Award 2010 and the Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Award 2010.

This is the first FWO wage calculator that includes a classification matching tool for between pre-modern and modern awards as well as immediate calculations of all industry, tool, overtime and special allowances.

The tool was devised to make wage information easily accessible for national-system employers and employees.   Peak industry stakeholders were involved in developing and testing the tool to ensure its straightforward navigation and correct application of allowances.

‘This is a great tool for busy building and construction workers and employers,’ said Deputy ABC Commissioner (Field Operations) Michael Campbell.

‘In the construction industry specific pay rates can apply depending on a worker’s employment category, qualifications, hours when the work is completed and variable on the job conditions.

PayCheck Plus allows industry participants to stay up-to-date and informed about employee entitlements.’

To launch PayCheck Plus go to: http://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay/paycheckplus/

PayCheck Plus covers employers operating as constitutional corporations and their employees who were bound by pre-modern awards prior to 1 January 2010.

If you are not covered by a modern award you can contact the ABCC for information about your correct entitlements on 1800 003 338.
