Chubb Fire Safety Ltd (Chubb) is engaged to install sprinklers in a Mirvac development in Melbourne, Southbank One. Following a strike by sprinkler fitters, members of the CEPU, which began on 4 March 2009 Chubb applied to the AIRC for orders to stop and prevent industrial action by employees.
The matter was listed for hearing before Commissioner Blair at 4.00pm on 5 March 2009. The ABC Commissioner notified the Commission and the parties of his intention to intervene in the proceedings, however, before the hearing commenced the CEPU provided undertakings to the company concerning future conduct of employees. Having received the union’s undertaking Chubb did not pursue its application and the hearing in the AIRC was cancelled.
