Who we are
The Office of the Australian Building and Construction Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that building and construction work is carried out for the benefit of all building industry participants and for the benefit of the Australian economy as a whole.
The ABCC is a full service regulator that aims to bring about fair and productive building and construction work.
ABC Commissioner Leigh Johns was appointed under s 15 of the Building and Construction Industry Improvement Act 2005 for a 5 year term effective from 11 October 2010. A biography of Leigh Johns is available on this website.

What we do
The role of the Office of the Australian Building and Construction Commissioner is to monitor and promote appropriate standards of conduct throughout the building and construction industry. Our reports and responses to Parliament
The ABCC has provided Annual Reports to the Parliament for each financial year beginning in 2005-06. All Annual Report are published on the Annual Reports page.
Information that is routinely the Parliament in response to requests and orders from the Parliament can be accessed from the ABCC’s Accountability page. This information includes the ABCC’s Contract Listings and File listings. Our Portfolio Budget Statements are available from the DEEWR website.

On 19 November 2010 ABC Commissioner Leigh Johns announced the Sham Contracting Inquiry. The Sham Contracting Inquiry website contains details of the inquiry, including submissions and details of public consultation arrangements
